Held by Mercy
The essence of my existence,
The reason for every season,
Ezigbo Chim (my good God).
Chimfurumnanya (my God loves me).
I kneel today again,
Bearing in mind Your many mercies.
Ihe i mere m ebuka (You have done so much for me).
I wonder if I was ever truly deserving.
A selfish human like me,
Always running back to You in crisis,
Yet forgetting to return my thanks when the storm is over.
Still, Your mercy is immeasurable.
Your hand rests constantly on my life,
Holding me up,
Strengthening me in my weakest moments.
Ịnaghị ekwe ka ihere mee mu (You do not let me be put to shame).
Chigborom ọgụ! (The God who fought my battles!)
When I thought I had lost it all,
You replaced it... all of it.
When I thought I couldn’t do it,
You placed the right people in my path to lead me well.
I’ve seen You in the kindness
Of the few good humans around me.
Only fools seek signs,
Because with me, in me..
Your signs are evident.
Where do I even start?
Ezigbo Chim nji eme ọnụ (my good God whom I brag with).
Ours is an unbreakable kind of love story.
You are my Muse,
The push behind my heart and my faith.
I’m holding on to You tight.
And even when I forget…
Please, always remind me.
