The Man on the Other End | A Reflection on Trust and Betrayal

  We walked a few paces,
Turned a few pages,
Recalled a few faces,
Wondering what game life is playing.
Is it soccer?
Some faces became the joker,
Some fingers played like poker.

 Our generation
The Man on the Other End, A Reflection on Trust and BetrayalOnce full of visions,
Once met with countless admiration,
Yet hope seems to fade among people.
Brotherhood turned against brotherhood,
We started giving more than we received,
Giving more of our hearts than we protected.

The hood was real,
Until some lost its feel.
So, what stories do we tell our children?
That we had more confusion than clarity?
More backstabbing than genuine hugs?
More hate than love?
More vultures than doves?

And the man on the other end,
Bending and twisting images,
Telling stories of scenes that never happened,
Making jest of lives he never truly knew.

The lady on the other end,
Chasing shadows of another’s life,
Taking selfies, calling herself “the Chic”,
Trying to compare her journey to that of the ordinary woman.

And the man ..
He was supposed to be his wife’s,
But here he is, walking another man’s path,
Forgetting the love he once vowed to protect.
